We work with you and your family to develop your very own plan of care, which will reflect your specific needs and describes your personal care information, such as your daily routine, goals of treatment, and anything that has to do with the care we provide to you. We understand the importance of feeling comfortable and safe within your own home while our Care Workers assist you with your care. For this reason, our nursing team ensures that our employees are adequately trained and knowledgeable to make sure you feel safe and provide the best care possible.
Personal Care
Help you get ready for the day ahead or before you go to bed. Our staff members are trained to keep you safe while performing everyday activities, such as showering, sponge bath, oral hygiene, dressing/undressing, skin care, grooming, shaving (electric razor), and incontinence care.
Mobility
We provide you with assistance when walking, as well as transferring from one place to another, to ensure you are using any walking devices correctly and safely. We can also provide aid in activities, such as taking a walk or completing a client’s range-of-motion program designed by a physiotherapist.
Medication
Canadian Shield Health Care Services staff has been specifically trained and are knowledgeable in cueing with safe medication compliance
Light Meal Preparation
Provide assistance with meal cueing, as well as assist and supervise our client while eating to ensure optimal nutrition and safely.
Education
As the body ages, some changes occur in one’s daily care. While providing personal care, our Care Workers will take the time to answer questions and teach our client important information they should know about their personal care.

While providing care, we want to be there for you and your family. Our team will work with compassion and respect while providing a support system you can trust. Our dedicated Care Workers (PSW, DSWs, HCA, etc) are trained to provide compassionate and respectful care, helping with tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. They also offer medication reminders and support with meal preparation, ensuring clients' overall well-being. By fostering a trusting relationship, our Care Workers create a comfortable and safe environment for clients to thrive in their own homes.
Showering
Assistance with safely entering, exiting, and washing in the shower. This helps maintain hygiene, prevent skin issues, and promote comfort. Caregivers ensure safety and may assist with washing specific areas as needed.
Sponge Bath
A bed-side or seated alternative to showering, where a caregiver uses warm water and a washcloth or sponge to clean the body. Ideal for individuals with limited mobility or those recovering from illness or surgery.
Oral Hygiene
Support with brushing teeth, cleaning dentures, and rinsing the mouth to maintain oral health, prevent infection, and promote comfort. This service is crucial for both hygiene and overall health.
Dressing/Undressing
Assistance with putting on and taking off clothing, ensuring individuals are comfortable, appropriately dressed for the weather, and that any mobility challenges or medical devices (e.g., catheters) are accommodated.
Skin Care
Application of lotions, barriers creams, and monitoring for skin breakdown, redness, or sores. This service helps maintain skin integrity, especially for those who are bedridden or have fragile skin.
Grooming
Includes activities such as hair brushing, nail care (when applicable) and overall tidying of appearance to promote dignity, confidence, and comfort.
Shaving (Electric Razor)
Caregivers assist with or preform shaving using an electric razor, which is a safer option, especially for individuals with limited mobility, tremors, or those on blood-thinning medications.
Incontinence Care
Assistance with managing bladder or bowel incontinence, including changing adult briefs, cleaning the skin, and ensuring comfort and dignity. This also helps prevent skin irritation or infections.
Our respite services offer temporary relief for primary caregivers, with professional care provided by our skilled Care Workers, allowing caregivers to take a much-needed break. While the caregiver has a rest, our Care Workers spend time and take care of your loved one. During a respite, our Care Workers will engage with the client and promote activities and interactions, while providing companionship.
Board Games
Engaging individuals in classic or modern board games tailored to their interests and abilities. Board games promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and entertainment in the comfort of the clients home!
Puzzles
Assistance with completing jigsaw puzzles or other puzzle-based activities. Puzzles encourage problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, and provide a sense of achievement, making them an excellent therapeutic and recreational option.
Card Games
Participation in familiar or new card games suited to the individual’s preference and skill level. Card games support mental sharpness, dexterity, and provide enjoyable one-on-one or group interaction.
Looking Through Albums & Family Memorabilia
A meaningful activity that involves reminiscing by browsing through photo albums, keepsakes and other personal items. This promotes emotional connection, memory recall, and comforting conversations about family and life experiences.
Arts and Crafts
Creative sessions where individuals can participate in simple arts and crafts projects such as painting, colouring, or making small decorative items. This encourages self-expression, fine motor skills, and provides a fun, relaxing outlet for creativity!
Walks (If Weather Permits)
Accompanied outdoor walks, promoting gentle physical activity, fresh air, and connection with nature. Walks are adjusted to the individual’s mobility level, ensuring safety and enjoyment while supporting overall well-being.
Baking
Supervised, light baking activities where individuals can participate in preparing simple recipes such as cookies, muffins, or other treats. Baking provides sensory stimulation, promotes creativity, and offers a sense of accomplishment — plus, everyone can enjoy the tasty results!
Colouring
A relaxing and accessible creative activity using colouring books, printed designs, or blank pages. Colouring encourages self-expression, enhances fine motor skills, and provides a calming, enjoyable way to spend time.
